ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College used a team effort to sweep Young Harris College (25-11, 25-15, 25-7) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to eight and improved to 13-3 overall and the conference record stays perfect at 6-0. Young Harris lost its seventh match in a row and dropped to 3-15 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Tonight's match was the Saints' first one at home since Sept. 17.
The Saints hit a season-best .391 as they had 32 kills and only seven errors on 64 swings. In the third set alone, Flagler hit .526 with 12 kills and two errors on 19 swings.
Rebekah Machovec led the Saints with seven kills and hit .538 as she had 13 errorless swings.
Victoria Bowrosen added six kills and hit .556 as she had only one error on nine swings.
Jordan Berglin and
Arianna Lopez chipped in with five and four kills, respectively.
Kennedy Muff tallied 26 assists and
Edie Lamoreaux paced the defense with six digs.
Chase Vaigneur led the Mountain Lions with six kills.
Young Harris finished with a -.014 hitting percentage.
Flagler hosts Georgia College tomorrow at 3 p.m. in another PBC match.
