TAMPA, Fla.– No. 13 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College recorded its first win of the season, 6-1, over the University of Tampa in a non-conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Naimoli and Young Tennis Complex.
Flagler (1-2) captured the doubles point as
Anika Nissen and
Lixin Wang defeated Corbin Dorsey and Dakota Busch (6-3) while
Eden Schlagenhauf and
Florencia Massardo Brain teamed up to beat Lilley Nice and Vanna Iordanova (6-4).
Tampa (1-1) won the match at No. 6 singles for its lone point. Wang clinched the match for the Saints with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Savannah Williams at No. 2. Schlagenhauf posted a 7-6(3), 2-6, 10-6 win over Ekaterina Grib at No. 1. Nissen, Amelia Vosgaetter, and
Alessandra Traub won their singles matches in straight sets.
Flagler will play its home opener on Thursday (Feb. 13) against No. 18 Florida Southern College at 3 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
