ST. AUGUSTINE –
Aaron Anderson's solo home run in the seventh inning broke a 3-all tie and Flagler College went on to defeat Augusta University 8-3 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.
Flagler (11-6 overall, 3-5 PBC) scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead, but Augusta tallied single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Anderson stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, with one out, and belted a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall. He finished the game 4-for-5 with four runs batted in.
The Saints were not finished as they scored four more runs in the eighth. It was Anderson again as he hit a bases-clearing double.
Sean Lawlor led off the inning with a home run. He went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. He hit an RBI triple in the first inning.
Christian O'Kelly (1-2) allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings of work to pick up the win.
Blake Hooker closed the game to earn his first save of the season. He tossed two scoreless innings.
Aron Chick (0-4) took the loss in relief for Augusta (4-11, 2-6). He surrendered five runs on five hits in two innings pitched.
Skylor Murphy collected two singles, scored a run and drove in another. Theron Powell also hit two singles and he knocked in one run.
The same two teams meet tomorrow at noon in the rubber game.
