COLUMBUS, Ga. – Isaac Bouton's three-run home run in the fifth inning broke a 1-all tie in a 6-1 Columbus State University win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Friday afternoon at Burger King Stadium.
Jalen Latta (2-1) scattered six hits and allowed one run over seven innings to pick up the win for the Cougars. After hitting the first batter of the game and then allowing a single, he retired the next 16-of-19 batters.
Matthew McDade and Connor Kirley led off the fifth inning with a pair of singles for Columbus State (8-3 overall, 3-1 PBC). Two batters later, Bouton greeted Flagler reliever
Ethan Jones with a home run over the left field wall giving the Cougars a 4-1 lead.
In the seventh, Robert Brooks added a two-run home run.
Bouton went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and four runs batted in. Brooks finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Dane Bullock collected two singles.
Nathan Henderson (0-1) started and took the loss for the Saints. He allowed two earned runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings. Jones and
Jett Walsh finished the game.
Sean Lawlor went 2-for-4 with a double for Flagler (9-3, 2-2).
Josh Shrouder singled twice.
Alex Amos scored the lone run for the Saints in the first inning.
The same two teams will meet tomorrow at 2 p.m.
