Flagler rolls past Georgia Southwestern to take the series

ST. AUGUSTINE – Aaron Anderson finished with three singles, four runs scored, and one run batted in as Flagler College defeated Georgia Southwestern State University 9-5 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.

Flagler (9-1 overall, 2-1 PBC) scored a pair of runs in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI singles by Adam Mitchell and J.T. Marr to take a 2-1 lead.

Sean Lawlor added a two-run double down the right field line in the second inning to extend the Saints lead to 4-1.

That was plenty support for Colt Mink (2-0) who tossed seven innings, allowed one unearned run on two hits, walked four and struck out six. Casey Todd struck out the side in the eighth while Noah Allen and Blake Hooker closed the ninth.

Marr collected three singles and knocked in a run for the Saints. Lawlor added a triple to his double in the second, scored a run, and knocked in three more.

The Saints finished with 15 hits, their second highest total this season.

Anthony Capasso (0-3) took the loss for Georgia Southwestern (2-7, 1-2). He allowed four runs on nine hits. Four other Hurricanes pitched.

Six different GSW players had a hit.

Flagler visits Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Tuesday (Feb. 18) at 6 p.m. down at Daytona Beach.
