Saints pound out 11 hits but come up short against the Hurricanes

ST. AUGUSTINE – Georgia Southwestern State University scored all of its runs in the first three innings in a 12-6 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.

Jacob Harrell hit a two-run double in the first and Hunter Foster added a two-run single in a four-run second for Georgia Southwestern (2-6 overall, 1-1 PBC). Anthony Angelino hit a two-run single to the gap in right-center in a five-run third.

J.T. Marr hit a two-run double in the bottom of the first for Flagler (8-1, 1-1) to close the deficit to 3-2. The Saints added single tallies in the third, fifth, sixth, and ninth innings.

Adam Mitchell collected three singles, scored a run, and knocked in another for the Saints. Marr finished 2-for-5 with the double and three runs batted in. Alex Amos hit two singles and scored a run while Aaron Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and one RBI.

Christian O'Kelly (0-1) tossed 1 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits. He did strikeout four batters. Derick Garcia (2/3 IP), Zach Audet (5), and Jett Walsh (2) also saw time on the mound.

Foster finished with three singles, three runs scored, and three RBI for Georgia Southwestern. Angelino drove in five runs on three singles.

Dalton Cameron (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He scattered three hits and allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings.

The same two teams meet tomorrow in the rubber game at noon at Drysdale Field. The game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but the threat of weather later in the day prompted the move to one hour earlier.
