Lawlor’s double keys three-run 11th as Flagler downs Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sean Lawlor roped a two-run double to left field that scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning to help lead Flagler College to a 7-4 win over Florida Tech in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.

Alex Amos got the 11th started for Flagler (7-0) with a one-out double to left-center off Florida Tech reliever Jake Lane (0-1). After a strikeout, Aaron Anderson was intentionally walked and that's when Lawlor stepped to the plate and hit the first pitch off the left field wall. Both Amos and Anderson scored on the hit. Adam Mitchell followed with an RBI single to right-center to score Lawlor with an insurance run.

Ethan Jones tossed the bottom half of the inning and struck out all three batters to earn his first save of the season.

Blake Hooker (2-0) picked up the win in relief as he tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He scattered three hits and struck out a batter. Flagler used six different pitchers.

Amos paced the 12-hit attack for the Saints as he went 3-for-5 with a double and he scored two runs. Connor Laspina hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Mitchell and Josh Shrouder each collected two singles.

Lane took the loss for Florida Tech (1-6). He allowed three runs on four hits in three innings of work.

Brett Parrish went 3-for-5 with a double and he scored a run for the Panthers. Dylan Owens added a single, a double, he scored two runs and knocked in two more.

Flagler opens Peach Belt Conference play this weekend against Georgia Southwestern State University at Drysdale Field. The first game of the series is Friday at 6 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
