ST. AUGUSTINE –
Chris Metzger poured in a career-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Flagler College rolled to a 79-58 win over Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler (12-9 overall, 7-5 PBC) used a 20-4 run over an 8-minute, 6-second span to build a 24-9 lead with just under eight minutes to play until halftime.
The Saints led 34-26 at the break, but played the majority of the second half with a double-digit lead.
Metzger made 9-of-11 from the field and blocked a pair of shots.
Gedi Juozapaitis added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds while Damerit contributed 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the second consecutive game.
Derrick Ellis, Jr. and
Damir Hadzic chipped in with a 12 points apiece. Ellis dished out five assists.
The Saints finished with a 57.1 (32-56) shooting percentage and they shot 60 percent (18-30) in the second half alone.
Chris Parks led Georgia College (9-11, 6-6) with 18 points. Richard Crawford added 10 points. Wesley Simpson grabbed seven rebounds.
Flagler hits the road on Wednesday and will face UNC Pembroke at 7:30 p.m.
