MOBILE, Ala. –
Jaizec Lottie led Flagler College with 21 points on Wednesday night in an exhibition loss to the University of South Alabama 103-81 at the Mitchell Center.
South Alabama (6-2), a NCAA Division I and Sun Belt Conference member, won its third game in a row. The game was an exhibition for Flagler.
"I thought South Alabama was very sharp tonight," said head coach
Chad Warner. "We have to continue to grow in our discipline and competitive effort. We will rest tomorrow and prepare for our final non-conference game against the University of North Florida on Saturday."
The Jaguars opened the game on an 11-0 run, but the Saints were able to work their way back into the game. A
Spencer Bain three-pointer with 11:24 to go cut the deficit to two (23-21).
However, USA went on to score the next 10 points.
Tyreke Locure scored a game-high 22 points to lead six players in double figures for South Alabama, who is ranked No. 16 in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. He sank five of the team's 11 three-pointers. Michael Flowers added 18 points while Josh Pettway and KK Curry tacked on 14 points apiece. Pettway tallied a game-high seven assists. Kayo Goncalves grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Jaguars shot 64.5 percent from the field in the first half and finished the game with a 61 percent mark.
Marcus Henderson added 16 points, with the help of five 3-pointers, and grabbed six rebounds for the Saints.
Chase Fiddler came off the bench to supply 12 points and five rebounds. Bain tacked on 10 points.
Derrick Ellis, Jr. dished out six assists and
Chris Metzger corralled six rebounds.
Flagler will conclude its non-conference schedule on Saturday, Dec. 19 at North Florida at 5 p.m. This game will count for the Saints and UNF Arena will be at 20-25 percent capacity. Tickets are available at UNFOspreys.com.
