DAHLONEGA, Ga. –
Gedi Juozapaitis scored a team-high 33 points as Flagler College rolled to a 90-68 victory over the University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the UNG Convocation Center.
Juozapaitis scored 24 of his 33 points in the second half. He made 11-of-18 from the field and sank five 3-pointers. Juozapaitis was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and also grabbed nine rebounds.
Damerit Brown broke a 21-all tie with a 3-pointer with 5:32 left in the half and he capped the 14-0 run with another trey as Flagler (6-5 overall, 2-1 PBC) went into the locker room with a 38-28 lead.
Flagler put the game away with a 19-8 early in the second half.
Damir Hadzic capped the 5:18 spurt with a layup to give the Saints a 57-38 lead.
North Georgia (5-7, 0-4) would trim the deficit to nine (67-58) with 7:46 left, but couldn't get any closer.
The Saints shot a red-hot 70.4 percent (19-27) from the field in the second half.
Brown added 18 points and five rebounds for Flagler while
Derrick Ellis, Jr. tacked on 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Hadzic finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
KJ Jenkins led the Nighthawks with 17 points in a reserve role. Zach Brown added 11 points. Carrod Watson finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
Flagler will play its first home conference game on Thursday against UNC Pembroke at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
