Derrick Ellis, Jr. recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough as Flagler College lost to UNC Pembroke 91-73 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Thursday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
UNC Pembroke (10-3 overall, 4-1 PBC) used a 16-0 run over a 4-minute, 40-second span midway through the first half to pull away. Jordan Ratliffe accounted for eight of those points. He finished the game with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
Akia Pruitt added 19 points and six rebounds for the Braves. Carson Mounce and David Strother each chipped in with 10 points. Strother added six rebounds.
UNCP shot 52.1 percent (37-71) in the game and knocked down 50 percent (11-22) from three-point range. The Braves had a 44-28 advantage in rebounds. They grabbed 13 offensive boards that led to 16 second chance points.
Gedi Juozapaitis and
Chris Metzger each add 13 points for Flagler (6-6, 2-2). Metzger grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Allante Pickens chipped in with 12 points.
Flagler hosts Georgia Southwestern State University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
