Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brown’s 25 helps Flagler hold off Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. – Damerit Brown scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to help lead Flagler College to a 72-68 win over Clayton State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at The Loch.

Brown's three-pointer with 8:06 left to go in the game gave Flagler (10-9 overall, 6-5 PBC) its largest lead of the game, 65-45. He finished the game with six treys.

But the Lakers closed the game on a 23-7 run, 10 of which came from Kyle Kincey. Bryan Hart sank a three-pointer with 13 seconds left to make it a one possession game (71-68).

Logan Swackhammer was fouled with 11 seconds left and he made the first of two free throws. Hart missed a three-pointer with two seconds left that would have still left Clayton State (3-15, 1-10) short.

Gedi Juozapaitis scored all 13 of his points in the second half and added eight rebounds for the Saints. Chris Metzger chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds. Brown also had nine boards. Damir Hadzic grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Kincey led the Lakers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Hart added 11 while Tionne Williams, Jr. tacked on 10 points and eight rebounds.

Clayton State only made 25 percent (10-40) of its shots from the field in the first half and trailed 37-27 at the half. The Lakers shot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) in the second half.

Flagler returns home to face Georgia College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on "PJ Day" at Flagler Gym.

NOTE: With the win, Flagler has 10 victories in a season for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
