ST. AUGUSTINE – Despite Flagler College's
Erik Isaksson scoring his first goal of the season, Rollins College answered with two more to earn a 2-1 victory in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday evening at Saints Field.
Rollins improved to 1-2-0 overall while Flagler fell to 0-4-0.
The Tars got the winning tally in the 76
th minute when Michael Landau headed in Christian Adams' cross into the box.
The Saints had two opportunities late to score the equalizer, but a header off a corner kick in the 86
th minute went wide and a shot by
Owen Punselie was corralled by Rollins keeper Maximillian Obermeie with eight seconds remaining.
Isaksson, a transfer from Eastern Illinois University, got Flagler on the board first when he headed in
Henrique Salomao's corner kick in the 54
th minute.
Six minutes later, Dominic Adomakoh's left-footed shot from the left of the goal box was saved by a diving Andres Lubbia. However, the ball caromed straight back to a waiting Kolinaitis who scored on an open goal.
Obermeie finished with four saves while Lubbia collected two saves for Flagler.
Each team took 12 shots, but the Saints had five on frame as opposed to the Tars' four. There were 32 fouls called and Flagler was responsible for 21.
Flagler will look to break into the win column on Saturday (Sept. 21) against Florida Tech. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
