ST. AUGUSTINE –
Dan McGuire scored the equalizer for Flagler College in the 85
th minute, but the University of West Alabama scored with 52 seconds remaining in regulation to come away with a 2-1 victory in a non-conference men's soccer match Sunday afternoon at Saints Field.
West Alabama improved to 2-1 on the season while Flagler is now 0-3.
The Tigers got on the board first when Ben Walker scored in the 11
th minute. That score would hold for nearly the remainder of the match.
Joran Osland's cross into the box found McGuire to tie the match.
In the final minute of regulation, David Nascimento slotted a pass to Kyle McLeod who blasted a shot off the far post that caromed into the goal.
Cosmas Uzoaru recorded three saves for West Alabama while
Andrea Lubbia collected four for Flagler.
The Saints were whistled for 20 of the 32 fouls in the match.
Flagler hosts Rollins College on Wednesday (Sept. 18) at 5 p.m. on "Saints Soccer Fall Kick-Off Day."
