ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 9 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College men's tennis team extended their winning streak to four matches with a 4-3 win over No. 18 Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College dropped to 11-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
The Saints picked up the first point in the match after winning two doubles matches.
Luca Bolla and
Daniel Arrien triumphed 6-2 while
Rasmus Jonsson and
Konstantin Dustmann clinched the point with a 7-6(7) win at No. 2.
Flagler got two quick wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Dustmann and Arrien rolled in straight sets to give the Saints a 3-0 lead in the match. The Bobcats won two more singles matches to close the gap to 3-2, but
Felipe Carvalho rallied after dropping the first set 7-6(4) to win 6-2 and 6-4 to clinch the match.
Flagler faces national power, and No. 3-ranked, Hawai'i Pacific University on Thursday (April 11) at Orlando, Florida.
