ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – No. 6 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Hawai'i Pacific University defeated No. 3 Flagler College 4-1 in a non-conference men's tennis match Thursday afternoon at Sanlando Park.
Hawai'i Pacific improved to 11-3 overall while Flagler had its four-match winning streak snapped and dropped to 13-6.
The Sharks won both doubles matches to claim the first team point. No. 7-ranked Valentin Masse and Maxime Gayte downed
Lukas Storck and
Felipe Carvalho, 7-5. Lukas Bauer and Cheng-Chieh Wang defeated
Rasmus Jonsson and
Konstantin Dustmann 6-4 at No. 2.
Luca Bolla squared the match at 1-all with his straight-sets win over Wang at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-0. But the Sharks were able to win the other three singles in straight sets to win the match.
Flagler is back in action on Saturday against Young Harris College at 10 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
