DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.– No. 25 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College defeated No. 46 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
Flagler won its fourth match in a row and improved to 12-5 overall. Embry-Riddle lost its fourth match in a row and dropped to 5-9.
The Eagles took the early lead by winning Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.
Anika Nissen and
Lixin Wang remained undefeated this year at 11-0 with a 6-2 victory.
The Saints rallied in singles.
Felicitas Runkel got Flagler on the board when her opponent, No. 64 Itxaso Blanco, retired in the first set with the score tied at 4-all.
Alessandra Traub,
Paloma Martinez, and Nissen, won their singles matches to wrap up the match. Nissen clinched the match with her victory and she raised her record to 14-2. The win was her 11
th in a row.
Up next for Flagler is No. 39 Georgia College on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
