FLORENCE, S.C. – No. 5 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College suffered a 4-3 loss to No. 6 USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Tournament semifinal match Saturday afternoon at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.
Flagler fell to 16-7 overall while USC Aiken improved to 16-2 and will take on Columbus State University in tomorrow's championship match.
The Saints were only able to win one doubles match, so the Pacers took an early 1-0 lead.
Flagler held a 3-1 lead in the match after singles wins by
Konstantin Dustmann,
Luca Bolla, and No. 55
Lukas Storck.
Unfortunately, the Pacers rattled off three singles win too. USC Aiken won at Nos. 2 and 5 singles before No. 43 Antonio Sabuqueiro downed
Felipe Carvalho 4-6, 7-6(4), and 6-3 to win the match.
Flagler will wait and see where and who they will play in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
