ST. AUGUSTINE – UNC Pembroke scored all of its runs in two innings in a 7-2 win over Flagler College on a sun-splashed and blustery Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field on "Senior Day."
UNC Pembroke snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 20-25 overall and 10-17 in the Peach Belt. Flagler's 11-game winning streak came to an end and the Saints dropped to 27-18 overall and 18-9 in conference play.
The Braves trailed 1-0 going into the sixth inning, but a two-out RBI single by Elijah Helton tied the game. Connor Grainger followed with a triple to left field to score two more runs. Grainger hit a high fly ball that Flagler left fielder
Sean Lawlor lost in the high sky and gusting wind. The ball landed on the warning track as shortstop
Steven DiPuglia had to race out to get the ball before Grainger had the chance to round third and score.
UNCP added four runs in the seventh, three of which were unearned.
DiPuglia hit a run-scoring single in the sixth for Flagler.
