AMERICUS, Ga. – No. 6 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College defeated Georgia Southwestern State University 7-0 in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.
Flagler snapped a two-match losing streak to improve to 10-5 overall and 3-2 in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern lost its fourth consecutive match and fell to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
"We came out fast, dominating in all three doubles matches to set the pace," said assistant coach Brian Washburn. "We rolled through the next four singles matches. Rasmus (Jonsson) and Reid (Burrows) fought through tough matches at the end to complete the shutout."
The Saints wasted little time in earning the first point of the match.
Luca Bolla and
Daniel Arrien posted a 6-1 win and
Rasmus Jonsson and Konstantin Dustman followed with a 6-2 win.
Flagler won all six matches in straight sets and it was No. 75
Lukas Storck who clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Flagler plays an exhibition match on Wednesday against Keiser University at the Flagler Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
