AIKEN, S.C. – No. 7 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College defeated No. 14 University of South Carolina Aiken 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference men's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the USCA Tennis Complex.
Flagler won its second match in a row to improve to 11-5 overall as well as 4-2 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken fell to 11-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
"The new (scoring) format helped us to win as we were able to overcome the doubles deficit and win four singles matches," said director of tennis
Thomas Hipp. "Daniel (Arrien) was clutch as he clinched the match in the third set. He has done that a few times in the past."
The Saints trailed early after losing all three doubles matches. The Pacers took a 1-0 lead going into singles play.

Lukas Storck defeated No. 70 Tales Silva in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) while
Konstantin Dustmann earned a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 to tie the team score at 2-all.
Rasmus Jonsson followed with 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 and the Saints held a 3-2 lead. After dropping No. 4 singles, the match came down to No. 5 singles.
Daniel Arrien lost the first set 6-3, but bounced back and won 6-4 and 6-3 to give the win to Flagler.
Flagler hosts No. 25 Azusa Pacific University on Monday at 3 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
