FLORENCE, S.C.– Flagler College triumphed over Francis Marion University 6-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Kassab Courts.
Flagler extended its winning streak to five matches and improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion had its two-match winning streak snapped and fell to 9-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Saints won all three doubles matches to start the day.
Eden Schlagenhauf and
Felicitas Runkel clinched the team point with their 7-5 win at No. 2.
After the Patriots squared the match at 1-all after the completion of the first singles match, the Saints won the remaining five, four of which were in straight sets. Schalgenhauf's win at No. 2 followed by
Alessandra Traub's victory at No. 5 gave Flagler a 3-1 lead.
Anika Nissen breezed through her match 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Saints.
Lixin Wang and
Paloma Martinez also posted wins.
Flagler tangles with Lander University tomorrow at 1 p.m. to conclude the weekend road trip.
