ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College women's tennis team opened Peach Belt Conference play this afternoon with a 7-0 defeat of Augusta University at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Flagler won its fourth match in a row to improve to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the Peach Belt. Augusta fell to 5-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Saints quickly wrapped up the doubles point with
Lixin Wang and
Anika Nissen winning their match 6-2, as did
Eden Schlagenhauf and
Felicitas Runkel.
Flagler went on to win five-of-the-six singles matches in straight sets.
Alessandra Traub put the match away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5.
Flagler visits Francis Marion University on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match at Florence, South Carolina.
