VALDOSTA, Ga. – Four errors by the Flagler College defense led to four unearned runs as Valdosta State University rallied to a 6-4 win Tuesday evening at Billy Grant Field.
Valdosta State (4-0) remains undefeated while Flagler (3-1) suffered its first loss.
The Blazers scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning to wipe out a 4-3 Saints lead.
Wesley Brooks got the rally started with a one-out single into right field. Two batters later, Josh Broughton reached on a fielding error by Flagler shortstop
Steven DiPuglia, which should have been the end of the inning. The next batter, Jowenrick Daantji reached on an error by
Ja'Kobi Dasher and Brooks scored on the play. David King followed with a base hit that scored Broughton, which chased Saints reliever
Noah Allen (0-1) from the game.
The Blazers got an insurance run in the seventh, with the benefit of an error.
Zach Blankenship (1-0) scattered seven hits over five innings of work. He allowed three earned runs, walked a batter, and struck out eight. Trevin Eubanks closed the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the save. He retired five-of-the-six-batters he faced.
King collected two singles, scored two runs and drove in another for Valdosta State. Aaron Haughton went 2-for-4 with a double and one run batted in.
Frankie Martello led the Saints offense going 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Jason Moore went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and he scored two runs.
Allen allowed two hits and two unearned runs in his one inning on the hill.
Ryan Ashworth started and tossed 2 2/3 innings.

Austin Kunde, and
Chris Altopiedi saw time on the mound in relief.
Flagler hosts Queens University of Charlotte on Friday at 4 p.m. in a single game at Drysdale Field.
