ST. AUGUSTINE– No. 8 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Nova Southeastern University defeated Flagler College 6-1 in a non-conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Nova Southeastern won its season opener while Flagler dropped to 1-1.
Anika Nissen's win at No. 4 singles over Sarah Wardenburg, 6-4 and 6-2, was the lone point for the Saints.
Ana Novales and Daniela Obando, ranked No. 12 in the nation, defeated
Alessandra Traub and
Paloma Martinez, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles. The Sharks won the other doubles match 6-0 to win the team point.
Navas, ranked No. 9, defeated
Felicitas Runkel 6-3 and 6-1 at No. 1. Natalie Espinal, ranked No. 13, downed Eden Schlagnehauf 6-4 and 7-5.
Flagler visits the defending national champions and top-ranked Barry University Feb. 9 at 12 p.m. at Miami Shores.
