MIAMI SHORES, Fla.– No. 1 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Barry University defeated Flagler College 6-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
Barry, the defending national champions, won its season opener. Flagler dropped to 1-2.
The Buccaneers won the first two doubles matches to clinch the first point.
Felicitas Runkel and
Anika Nissen lost at No. 3 doubles, 7-6, to Carolin Schmidt and Julie Razafindranaly.
The first three singles players for Barry are all nationally ranked and each singles match went to the Buccaneers in straight sets.
Flagler wraps up its road trip tomorrow against Palm Beach Atlantic University at 1 p.m. at West Palm Beach, Florida.
