ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 15 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College recorded the match's first four points en route to a 5-2 win over No. 6 Saint Leo University in a non-conference men's tennis match Saturday morning at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 4-2 while Saint Leo dropped to 3-3.
"It was a great team effort today," said director of tennis
Thomas Hipp. "It was a very close match all the way with many tiebreakers. Winning the doubles point was crucial."
After splitting the first two doubles matches,
Luca Bolla and
Daniel Arrien battled to win No. 3 doubles in a marathon match 7-6 (9-7) to win the first point for Flagler.
Rasmus Jonsson and
Felipe Carvalho won their singles matches in straight sets. The team match point was clinched when
Konstantin Dustmann defeated Willem Van Den Akker 7-5 and 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Bolla won his match at No. 3 singles for the 5
th Saints point.
Flagler hosts No. 3 Lynn University tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
