No. 15 Flagler knocks off No. 6 Saint Leo

ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 15 (Oracle/ITA Division II ranking) Flagler College recorded the match's first four points en route to a 5-2 win over No. 6 Saint Leo University in a non-conference men's tennis match Saturday morning at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Flagler improved to 4-2 while Saint Leo dropped to 3-3.

"It was a great team effort today," said director of tennis Thomas Hipp. "It was a very close match all the way with many tiebreakers. Winning the doubles point was crucial."

After splitting the first two doubles matches, Luca Bolla and Daniel Arrien battled to win No. 3 doubles in a marathon match 7-6 (9-7) to win the first point for Flagler.

Rasmus Jonsson and Felipe Carvalho won their singles matches in straight sets. The team match point was clinched when Konstantin Dustmann defeated Willem Van Den Akker 7-5 and 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Bolla won his match at No. 3 singles for the 5th Saints point.

Flagler hosts No. 3 Lynn University tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
