Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Saints use a balanced scoring attack to roll past Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Tabitha Odabe recorded her 14th double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs, to help lead Flagler College to a 68-45 win over Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Monday evening at the Centennial Center.

Flagler improves to 17-7 overall and 13-5 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College lost its third game in a row and fell to 10-14 overall and 8-10 in conference play.

"I was proud of how we executed in the second and third quarters," said head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery. "I thought we had good ball movement and that allowed us to get open looks that we were able to score. We got great production from our bench tonight. They gave us a lift and helped us extend our lead in the second half."

The Saints got off to a sluggish start as they made just 21.4 percent (3-14) of their shots from the field in the first quarter. Flagler trailed 12-6.

However, they shot at a much better clip in the second quarter, 62.5 percent (10-15), and took a 32-24 advantage into the intermission.

The Saints went on an 11-3 run in the second quarter as Odabe and Kierra Crane each scored four points in the 4:19 spurt.

The Flagler defense put the clamps on Georgia College in third quarter, holding the Bobcats to an anemic 14.3 percent (2-14) from the field. The Saints won the third quarter 21-5 and ran off 16 consecutive points.

Tatiyana Rock came off the bench to supply 12 points and five rebounds for Flagler. Crane finished with nine points while Ivana Boyd added six points and eight rebounds.

Flagler dominated in the paint holding a 44-10 scoring edge as well as a 51-27 spread in rebounds. The Saints grabbed 16 offensive rebounds which led to 16 second chance points.

Keyonna Wesley led Georgia College with a 12 points. Kenyatta Storms contributed 11 points and five rebounds. Sydney Cleveland, who had 18 points in the first meeting, was limited to just eight points and five boards.

Flagler returns home to face Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium on "Anastasia Fitness Night."
