MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A 14-5 early in the second half allowed Georgia College to pull away and defeat Flagler College 77-67 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Monday night at the Centennial Center.
Georgia College improved to 14-10 overall and 9-9 in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats are 9-2 at home. Flagler dropped to 8-16 overall and 5-13 in conference play.
DeMari Davis made a short jumper four minutes into the second half to get the Saints to within a point, 46-45. But a Kohl Roberts layup started a string of eight unanswered points for the Bobcats, which started the 14-5 run.
Isaac Thomas finished the game with 19 points and he grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for Georgia College. Jordan Thomas led all scorers with 22 points. He made four 3-pointers. Roberts added 19 points and nine rebounds. Desmond Mitchell-LaFlam contributed seven points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists.
The Bobcats held the Saints to 39.7 percent (25-63) shooting for the game. Flagler only made 5-of-19 from 3-point range (26.3 percent). The Saints came in averaging almost 10 made treys per game.
Jeffercy Jean tied his season-high with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field. He sank three 3-pointers.
Chris Metzger posted his second double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Gedi Juozapaitis grabbed 11 rebounds.
Logan Swackhammer dished out five assists.
Flagler plays its penultimate home game on Wednesday against Georgia Southwestern State University on "Anastasia Fitness Night." Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
