ST. AUGUSTINE –
Gedi Juozapaitis poured in a game-high 32 points and completed the double-double with 14 rebounds as Flagler College defeated Paine College 78-63 in a non-conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
"I think we did some good things tonight, but we were not consistent enough for the entire 40 minutes," said head coach
Chad Warner. "Now we will get some time to work as we get through exams and hopefully continue to improve as a team."
Flagler (4-3) used an early 9-1 run and then closed the first half on a 12-2 spurt to take a 45-25 lead into the half. The Saints sank eight 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes.
Juozapaitis made 11-of-21 from the field, including 7-of-13 from long range to lead Flagler. He scored 18 of the Saints' 33 points in the second half.
Allante Pickens added 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals while
Damir Hadzic came off the bench and contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Chris Metzger finished with 10 rebounds, four assists, and he blocked two shots.
Derrick Ellis, Jr. tallied five assists.
Charles Moore led Paine (0-5) with 21 points. Keon Williams and Keyon Faulkner-Smith each added 12 points. Deshawndric Nelms grabbed 10 rebounds while Faulkner-Smith corralled eight more.
Flagler will break for final exams and return to action on Dec. 16 against William Jessup University at Flagler Gymnasium.
