AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Gedi Juozapaitis and
Damerit Brown combined to score 41 points, but Augusta University was able to defeat Flagler College 97-77 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta (7-3, 2-0 PBC) used a 15-0 run midway through the first half to eliminate a four-point deficit.
Flagler (5-5, 1-1) was able to pull to within seven (70-63) with 8:42 left, but could not get any closer.
Miguel Arnold scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, including making 6-of-11 from behind the arc for the Jaguars. Tyshaun Crawford recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Rafael Monteiro also notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Darren Lucas-White came off the bench to provide 13 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Juozapaitis scored 19 of his team-high 21 points in the second half for the Saints. He sank five treys. Brown finished with 20 points.
Chris Metzger chipped in with nine points and two blocked shots.
Damir Hadzic supplied nine points and five rebounds.
The Saints made 53.6 percent (15-28) of their shots from the field in the second half.
Flagler will take a break for the holiday season and will return to the court on Jan. 4 at the University of North Georgia.
