AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Damerit Brown poured in a season-high 31 points as Flagler College cruised to a 94-43 win over Paine College in a non-conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the HEAL Complex.
Flagler (3-3) used an 18-2 run over a seven-plus minute stretch early in the game to pull away from Paine (0-1). In that stretch, the Lions went 0-for-10 from the field and committed five turnovers that led to seven points for the Saints. Brown scored eight of Flagler's 18 points in the run.
Brown made 12-of-20 from the field and he sank seven 3-pointers.
Allante Pickens added 23 points and made four 3-pointers. He added five assists and four steals.
Derrick Ellis, Jr. chipped in with 10 points, a game-high seven assists, and two steals.
Gedi Juozapaitis tacked on six points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.
Flagler made 55.1 percent (38-69) of its shots from the field, including shooting at a 65.6 percent (21-32) clip in the second half. The Saints made 16 treys in the game and made 44.4 percent from long range.
Charles Moore led the Lions, who were playing their season opener, with 15 points. He made 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Marckel McCollum grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Paine was held to a 24.1 shooting percentage (14-58). The Lions committed 21 turnovers which led to 29 points for the Saints.
Flagler is idle until playing Paine again, this time at Flagler Gym, on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
