No. 15 Young Harris defeats Flagler

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – No. 15 (United Soccer Coaches D2 Top 25) Young Harris College scored three times in the second half to down Flagler College 4-0 in Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match on Saturday afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions, ranked No. 5 in the first edition of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll released this week, improve to 10-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the PBC. The loss drops the Saints to 2-11-1 overall and 1-4-0 in PBC play.

Flagler played even with Young Harris for much of the first half, but Dan Creese put the hosts ahead to stay in the 32nd minute when he collected a rebound following a save by Flagler's Andrea Lubbia and beat the keeper to his right for a 1-0 lead.

The Mountain Lions put the game away with a pair of goals within 18 minutes to open the second half. Sondre Olsen redirected a Jordan Mills shot into the net in the 51st minute and Val Feeney followed in the 62nd minute with a strike from distance to hand Young Harris a 3-0 advantage.

An own goal by the Saints in the 77th accounted for the final 4-0 margin.

Alex Iglesias turned in a clean sheet for the Mountain Lions. Lubbia made seven saves for the Saints.

Joran Osland recorded Flagler's lone shot attempt.

Young Harris out-shot Flagler 14-1 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Flagler looks to keep its PBC postseason hopes alive on Wednesday (Nov. 6) when it heads to Georgia Southwestern for a 7 p.m. match.
