SAINT LEO, Fla. – Gedi Juozapaitis scored 14 of his team-high 21 points in the first half as Flagler College defeated the University of Tampa 89-72 in the first round of the Saint Leo Classic Saturday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.

Flagler (2-2) closed the game on a 10-0 and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in that final minute and 27 seconds. Tampa (0-3) did not make a field goal in the final 3:36.

Derrick Ellis, Jr. added 19 points, five assists, two blocks, and two steals for the Saints. Damir Hadzic recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Damerit Brown chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Flagler shot 52.6 percent (30-57) from the field, which included a red-hot 59.3 percent (16-27) in the second half alone. The Saints out-scored the Spartans 50-34 in the second half. Flagler also made 11 three-pointers as Juozapaitis made five and Brown had four. The Saints made 81.8 percent (18-22) of their shots from the foul line.

Vincent Biffle led the Spartans with a game-high 25 points. Pat Bacon added 16 points and six rebounds while Martin Lakovic tacked on 12 points and seven rebounds.

Tampa only made 30 percent (9-30) of its shots from the field in the second half.

Flagler wraps up the tournament with the host school, Saint Leo University, tomorrow at 2 p.m.
