Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Juozapaitis pours in 35 points Tuesday night at Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Gedi Juozapaitis tied his career-high in points with 35 and added seven rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals in Flagler College's 108-99 loss at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at the ICI Center.

Juozapaitis also tied a school record with nine made 3-pointers. He equaled the mark of Clay Worden who set the record on Feb. 9, 1989 against Embry-Riddle.

Flagler also made a record 20 three-pointers in the game. That broke the previous mark of 19 vs. Trinity College of Florida on Nov. 15, 2007.

The sophomore swing from London, England scored 22-of-his-35 in the second half. He finished 12-of-18 from the field and was 9-of-13 from 3-point range.

The Eagles held a 57-53 lead at the half. Embry-Riddle out-scored Flagler 28-14 in the paint and scored 16 points off turnovers. Flagler's Damerit Brown poured in 20 points in the first half on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 shooting from long range. The Saints shot a sizzling 65.5 percent (19-29) from the field.

Embry-Riddle used a 17-5 spurt that covered the final minute of the first half and the opening three-plus minutes of the second half to get some breathing room.

Flagler closed to within six (93-87) after a Juozapaitis trey with 6:22 left.

Brown finished with 25 points while Derrick Ellis, Jr. recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 assists. Ellis tallied the most assists in a game by a Flagler player since D.J. Ferguson had 17 against Augusta University (Jan. 5, 2011). Chris Metzger chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.

Elijah Jenkins led four Eagles in double figures with 29 points. Luka Majstorovic added 20 points. Romeo Church added 19 points and dished out 10 assists. Chris Murray finished with a double-double as he scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Flagler plays in the Saint Leo Classic this weekend. The Saints open against the University of Tampa on Saturday (Nov. 16) at noon.
