ST. AUGUSTINE – Augusta University withstood a Flagler College rally in a 3-2 (25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 15-25, 15-11) win in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Augusta improved to 12-3 on the season and 1-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Karlie Redfern recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 16 kills and 11 digs.
Kennedy Muff also had a double-double, her fourth, with 40 assists and 11 digs.
Rachel Machovec added 10 kills and eight digs.
Kayla Norelli paced the defense with 13 digs. She tied her career-high with four aces.
Logan Garcia finished with four block assists.
Nicolette Ramos led Augusta with a match-high 17 kills and finished with a .389 hitting percentage. Kylie Martin added 15 kills and 10 digs. She added four aces. Payton Murchie had a double-double with 30 assists and 14 digs. Holland Martin collected a match-high 15 digs. Jessica Hedrick collected four block assists.
The Jaguars took the first two sets, but the Saints countered by winning the following two sets to push the match to five.
Augusta opened the deciding set on a 6-1 run, but Flagler was able to close the gap to one (9-8) after a
Rachel Machovec kill, which prompted a Jaguar timeout.
The Jaguars scored the next three points and held on to win 15-11.
Flagler hosts Georgia College tomorrow (Oct. 5) at 2 p.m. in another conference match at Flagler Gymnasium.
