TIGERVILLE, S.C. –
Logan Garcia finished with a career-high 12 kills and hit a sizzling .500 to help Flagler College hold off a stubborn North Greenville University team 3-2 (25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11) in a non-conference volleyball match Friday night at Hayes Gymnasium.
Flagler (15-6) hit .500 in the fifth set alone to take the match.
Karlie Redfern recorded four of her match-high 16 kills in the deciding set.
The Saints trailed 9-8, but they reeled off four consecutive points thanks to a pair of kills from Redfern, an ace by
Rachel Porada, and a kill by Garcia.
Later, a double-block by Garcia and Redfern forced match point (14-11) and an attack error by a Crusader ended the match.
Rachel Machovec recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs.
Jordan Taylor had a career-high 11 kills and hit a red-hot .562 with only two errors on 16 swings.
Kennedy Muff tied her season-high with 49 assists.
Kayla Norelli collected 12 digs.
Abigail Durham came off the bench to lead North Greenville (12-10) with 11 kills. Eaden Stockley tallied 24 assists while Whitley Kahler collected a match-high 16 digs.
The loss for the Crusaders snapped a 10-match home regular season winning streak. The last regular season defeat North Greenville suffered at home was Oct. 12, 2018 against Emmanuel College (3-0).
Flagler wraps up its non-conference slate with a pair of matches at Gaffney, South Carolina tomorrow. Flagler takes on Converse College at 1 p.m. and then faces Limestone College at 3 p.m.
