Flagler sweeps a pair of matches in the Palmetto

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Flagler College swept a pair of matches in South Carolina with wins over Converse College (25-21, 25-14, 25-13) and Limestone College (25-21, 25-13, 25-17) Saturday afternoon at the Timken Center.

Karlie Redfern led Flagler (17-6) with 18 kills and a .273 hitting percentage in both matches. Rachel Machovec added 16 kills, 21 digs, and four total blocks while Rebekah Machovec chipped in with 13 kills, nine digs, and five total blocks. Kennedy Muff tallied 52 assists while Kayla Norelli amassed 35 digs. Rachel Porada had nine aces.

In the first match against Converse, Redfern led the Saints with 10 kills and she finished with a .308 hitting percentage with only two errors on 26 swings. Rachel Machovec added nine kills and eight digs. Muff just missed a double-double with 25 assists and nine digs. Norellli collected a match-high 14 digs. Porada had six aces.

There were only five ties and two leads changes, all in the first set. The Saints held the Valkyries to a -.020 hitting percentage.

Brittany Tepedino and Kiara Cannon each had five kills for Converse (8-17). Elizabeth Yohe collected 13 digs.

The second match saw Flagler use a balanced attack to beat Limestone. Rebekah Machovec recorded a match-high nine kills while Redfern supplied eight kills and six digs. Rachel Macahovec contributed seven kills and 13 digs. Muff tallied 27 assists while Norelli finished with 21 digs.

Flagler limited Limestone to a .022 hitting percentage. Flagler recorded nine total team blocks and was led by Logan Garcia's six total blocks.

Madyson Lousignont led Limestone (13-7) with six kills. Mia Bergan tallied 16 assists and Bailey Carpenter led the defense with 20 digs.

Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play next weekend with road trips to Georgia College (Nov. 1) and Augusta University (Nov. 2).
