ST. AUGUSTINE –
Charlene Nowotny and
Sara Sandberg both tied school records with nine points as No. 4 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College routed Eckerd College 9-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field.
Annika Hogberg also tallied nine points, at Florida College (Oct. 26, 2007). Sandberg tied a school record with four goals, which equaled the amount Hogberg had on Oct. 26.
Nowotny scored three goals and added three assists as Flagler (11-0-0) remained undefeated. Sandberg's four tallies brings her season cache to 15 goals. She scored the first three goals of the game within six minutes.
Nowotny scored her first goal, a penalty kick, in the 20
th minute to give Flagler a commanding 4-0 lead, which would be the score at the half.
Morghan Craven scored the lone goal for Eckerd (5-5-1) in the 52
nd minute.
Addie Foster and
Lorena Lopez converted penalty kicks in the second half.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel recorded a save in the first half.
Madison North made her debut and played the second half. Morgan Flemming tallied four saves for the Tritons in 58-minutes and 12-seconds played. Genesis Martinez finished the match.
Flagler out-shot Eckerd 20-2 and had a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints had eight corner kicks while the Tritons had three.
Flagler hosts Georgia College on Saturday (Oct. 19) at 1 p.m. in a Peach Belt Conference tilt at Saints Field.
