FLORENCE, S.C. – No. 7 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Francis Marion University shut out Flagler College 2-0 in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Saturday night at Hartzler Field.
Francis Marion (6-2-1 overall, 1-1-0 PBC) got on the board 55 seconds into the second half. Magnus Hoejland's cross from the right side found Travis Cooke who blasted a shot from close range.
It was Cooke again, in the 76
th minute, providing an insurance goal.
Maximilliano Rocco turned in a clean sheet for the Patriots as he saved two shots.
Andrea Lubbia recorded three saves for the Saints.
Stefan Zec-Bobeck led the Saints with two shots.
Francis Marion out-shot Flagler 11-5 and had a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Patriots held a small edge in corner kicks, 5-4.
Flagler returns home for a match on Saturday (Oct. 19) against Clayton State University at 3:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
