ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College and Nova Southeastern University played 110 minutes but neither team could find the winning tally in a 2-2 double overtime draw in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday night at Saints Field.
Flagler is now 1-6-1 on the season while Nova Southeastern Is 3-2-3.
Peik Koskinen put the Saints on the board first when he knocked in a pass from
Jonas Schmitt in the 20
th minute. It was Koskinen's first goal of the season.
That score would stand until the 51
st minute when
Joran Osland booted in a rebound of a blocked shot from
Dan McGuire.
The Sharks scored two goals under four minutes late in the second half to knot the game. In the 79
th minute, Curtis Thorn converted a penalty kick to pull Nova Southeastern to within one.
The equalizer came in the 83
rd minute when Michael Lawrence scored off a through ball from Lucas Dessoliers.
The first overtime neither team could put a shot on frame. Each team had a shot on goal in the second overtime session, but both goalkeepers were up to the task with saves.
Andrea Lubbia recorded three saves for Flagler while Titouan Le Roux collected two saves for Nova Southeastern.
NSU held a slight edge in shots, 13-9, as well as shots on goal (5-4). The Sharks had six corner kicks while the Saints took four.
Flagler opens Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday (Oct. 5) at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. The match will kick-off at 2 p.m.
