AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Gedi Juozapaitis scored a game-high 19 points, on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, but it was not enough as Augusta University used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Flagler College 90-63 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the Peach Belt. The Jaguars are a perfect 5-0 at home. Flagler dropped to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Juozapaitis scored all nine of Flagler's points to start the game and one of his 3-pointers gave the Saints a 7-5 lead.
The Jaguars answered with a 12-2 spurt over the following 2:29 and it was all Augusta from the rest of the way.
Augusta took a 42-30 lead into the half and then shot a sizzling 69 percent (20-29) in the second half. They shot 61.7 percent (37-60) from the field and knocked down 52.2 percent (12-23) from 3-point range.
Tyvez Monroe and Rafael Monteiro each scored 15 points. Aaron Byrd came off the bench to tally 14 points while Darren Lucas-White and Miguel Arnold added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Tyree Myers tallied six assists while Lucas-White added five more. Deane Williams corralled eight rebounds and blocked five shots.
Kris Totoris contributed 12 points for the Saints.
Logan Swackhammer dished out five assists.
Flagler returns home to face Lander University on Saturday (Jan. 12) at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium on "Northeast Florida Regional Airport Day."
