ST. AUGUSTINE – All 11 players who suited up for Flagler College scored at least one point in an 84-53 rout of Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to two games and improved to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College had its four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The margin of victory, 31 points, was the largest in a conference game for a Flagler team since an 85-54 win over Georgia Southwestern on Jan. 19, 2013.
"After being off for two weeks and not having played at home since Dec. 1, it was nice to step back on our court," said head coach
Erika Lang-Montgomery. "I was pleased with our rebounding efforts and free throw shooting. Both of those areas needed improvement.
Chris Wilson came in and sparked us off the bench today. I thought her minutes were very efficient."
Wilson scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Flagler. She made 8-of-11 from the field.
Tabitha Odabe added 12 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, and she blocked five shots.
Malaysia Robinson tallied 10 points.
Kierra Crane and
Dayuna Johnson each dished out five assists.
The two teams played to a 15-all tie through one quarter of play and the Saints held a slim 26-24 lead midway through the second quarter when an 8-0 run gave Flagler some breathing room.
Staci Miller sank back-to-back 3-pointers to start the spurt.
The Saints took a 42-29 lead into the half.
Flagler opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run and never looked back.
Sydney Coleman led all scorers with 18 points. Keyonna Wesley added 11 points for the Bobcats.
The Saints out-rebounded the Bobcats 51-21 and out-scored them in the paint 40-16. Flagler shot a season-high 50.8 percent (32-63) and also shot a season-high 81.3 percent (13-16) from the free throw line.
Up next for Flagler is Augusta University on Wednesday (Jan. 9) at 5:30 p.m. at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
