MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The Flagler College men's golf team is in a tie for 12th place with a 36-over par 604 (303-301) after the first 36 holes of the 54-hole Battle at the Shores on Monday (April 2) at the Normandy Shores Golf Club (par 71; 6,733 yards). The final round will be played tomorrow.

Leading the 18-team field is No. 2 (Golfstat relative ranking) Florida Southern College with a 10-under 558. They hold a two stroke lead over No. 6 Lynn University (560, -8), The host school, No. 7 Barry University, is third with a 7-under 561. No. 3 Nova Southeastern is in fourth place with a 4-under 564 while No. 5 Florida Tech is in fifth place with a 2-under 566.  

Leading the 90-man field is Florida Southern's John VanDerLaan shot a 10-under 132. He turned in identical rounds of 66 today. Jorge Garcia of Barry, Alexander Hughes of the University of Central Oklahoma and Juan Jose Guerra of Nova Southeastern are deadlocked in second place with a 5-under 137. Tomas Gana of Lynn and Han Xue of Florida Tech are tied for fifth place with a 4-under 138.  

Juan Iturra leads Flagler with a 7-over 149 and is in a tie for 40th place. Jack Kegelmeyer is tied for 50th place with an 8-over 150. Mauro Baez shot a 9-over 151 and is tied for 56th place. Mitchell Bowlin turned in a 12-over 154 while Nicolas Vanegas shot an 18-over 160.
