VALDOSTA, Ga. –
Taja Valmyr recorded her team-leading fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 10 digs to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-21) sweep of Valdosta State University in a non-conference volleyball match at The Complex Tuesday evening.
Flagler improved to 6-3 overall while Valdosta State lost its third consecutive match and dropped to 7-6.
Sara Davis added 10 kills and hit .455 as she had 22 errorless swings.
Kayla Norelli collected a match-high 20 digs and had three service aces while
Tara Savisky tallied 30 assists.
Victoria Bowrosen added 10 digs.
Tristyn Sells led the Blazers with 11 kills while Lindsey Robinson added five kills, four block assists and two service aces. Sydney Chick corralled 18 digs. Sara Dondridge tallied 13 assists.
Flagler used an 11-2 run to break open a 6-all tie in the first set. Valmyr had three consecutive kills in that run.
The Saints opened the second set on a 6-0 run and never looked back and then scored the first five point in the third set, but had to hold off a late run by the Blazers to seal the win.
Flagler returns to Peach Belt Conference play on Friday (Sept. 29) with a match at Augusta University at 7 p.m. at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
