Saints surge to final with sweep of Jaguars

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Karlie Redfern recorded her seventh double-double of the season with a match-high 16 kills and 11 digs to lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) win over Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinal match at the Centennial Center.

Flagler, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, extended its win streak to 18 and improved to 23-3 overall. The Saints have won seven consecutive PBC Tournament matches. Flagler will play in tomorrow's championship match at 2 p.m. Augusta, the No. 4 seed, fell to 18-15 and will await the selection show on Monday to see if it earns one of the five at-large berths to the regional.

Redfern, the PBC Freshman of the Year, hit an efficient .308 with four errors on 39 swings. She added five total blocks to her line. Sara Davis, the PBC Player of the Year, and Taja Valmyr each recorded 10 kills. Davis hit .588 with 17 errorless swings. Kayla Norelli collected a team-high 13 digs while Tara Savisky tallied a match-high 41 assists.

The Saints hit .299 for the match with 45 kills and 10 errors on 117 swings. Flagler has eight aces with Rachel Porada recording three.

Savanna Gonzles came off the bench to lead the Jaguars with 10 kills and finished with a .556 hitting percentage. McKenzy Beck recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 12 digs. She added on seven kills and had two aces. Holland Martin collected a match-high 20 digs.

The No. 2 seed USC Aiken takes on the host school and No. 3 seed, Georgia College, in the second semifinal later today. The winner advances to face Flagler tomorrow.
