No. 17 Saints triumph over Patriots

Box Score FLORENCE, S.C. – Maria Castorino-Mujica scored a goal and assisted on another as No. 17 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 poll) Flagler College shutout Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday night at Hartzler Field.

Flagler improved to 13-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the Peach Belt. Francis Marion fell to 5-9-0 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, a Flagler player was fouled in the box just 2:15 into the second half. Charlene Nowotny took the penalty kick, and converted, to give the Saints the 1-0 lead.

In the 77th minute, Annie Breen headed in Castorino-Mujica's corner for an insurance goal.

Nearly six minutes later, Castorino-Mujica capped the scoring when she slotted a goal from the right wing.

Sarah-Lisa Dubel turned in her fifth clean sheet of the season, which is tied for fourth-most in a season in the history of the program. She recorded seven saves. Janine Gordon tallied nine saves for the Patriots.

Flagler out-shot Francis Marion 18-8, including an 11-5 advantage in the second half. The Saints held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Flagler will close out the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 28) against Clayton State University at 1 p.m. at Saints Field.
