AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University's Dylan Brown and Earl Dupree combined on a seven-hit shutout to defeat Flagler College 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Hurricane Field.
Georgia Southwestern wins the series 2-1 and evened its overall record at 21-21 and improved to 5-19 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 23-17 overall and 11-13 in conference play.
Brown (4-0) tossed seven innings and scattered five hits to go along with two walks and six strikeouts. Dupree closed the last two innings and allowed two hits. He fanned two and earned his first save of the season.
Georgia Southwestern got on the board first with a run in the third inning. Davey King led off the frame with a single to left field and took second on a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, King scored on a single to center by Evan Alderman.
The Hurricanes added two more runs in the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Alderman and Alex Kranick.
Alderman finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored. Dakota Long collected two singles.
Dustin Dye (4-5) tossed 4.2 innings and allowed seven hits and three runs.
Michael Hanke and
Kyle Schackne kept the Hurricanes off the board the rest of the way.
Bryce Evans and
Bobby Bassler each had two singles.
Flagler hosts former NAIA rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Tuesday (April 19) at 6 p.m. on "Salt Life Shack Night."
