Flagler women finish eighth at regionals; de Tassigny earns all-region

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Flagler College women's cross country team finished in eighth place with 263 points at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday morning at the University of Montevallo to conclude their season.

Flagler sophomore Heloise Duffie de Tassigny ran a personal-best time in a 6K as she posted a time of 22:30.46 to finish in 20th place to earn all-region honors.

Earning the three bids to the national championship in Saint Leo, Florida from the region was: the University of Montevallo, Queens University of Charlotte and Wingate University. The three individuals who advance are Leah Hanle of the University of Mount Olive, Katherine Yost of Georgia College and Haylee Love of Anderson University.

Hanle topped the 182-woman field with a time of 21:03.65. She beat out Montevallo's Cheyenne Thompson by 23 seconds. Thompson posted a time of 21:26.50.

Kaitlin Rodriguez finished in 32nd place with a time of 22:56.22. Lauren Penkala finished in 59th place with a time of 23:39.68. Crossing the line at 24:22.02 was Margaret Stack who finished in 80th place. Kayla McManama finished just after Stack with a time of 24:32.16 which was good for 84th place. Kelly McGeehan finished in 92nd place with a time of 24:45.29. Abigayle Weinfeld posted a time of 25:18.62 to finish in 115th place.
