ST. AUGUSTINE –
Jonny Cosgrove scored a goal and added an assist as Flagler College rolled to a 5-0 win over Erskine College in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field.
Flagler raised its record to 6-4-1 overall while Erskine fell to 4-8-2.
Jackie Kay and Cosgrove both scored goals under two minutes apart from each other. Kay got the Saints on the board in the 31
st minute when he headed in Cosgrove's corner kick. Cosgrove followed with a goal in the 32
nd minute when he dribbled in and scored from 15 yards out to stake the Saints to a 2-0 lead.
Oscar Davidsson added a goal in the 43
rd minute to give Flagler a 3-0 lead going into the halftime break.
The onslaught continued midway through the second half.
Erlend Lofsgaard knocked in
Samba Diop's blocked shot in the 72
nd minute and then
Simeon Wickli blasted a shot from about 35 yards out off of the throw-in that banked in off the right post in the 76
th minute.
Lex Craggs saved all three shots on goal to earn his second consecutive clean sheet. The last time Flagler shut out back-to-back opponents was Oct. 2 and 5, 2013 at Georgia Southwestern State University and at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. Craggs is on a 212-minute, 43-second scoreless streak.
C.J. Cluck tallied seven saves for Erskine.
Flagler out-shot Erskine 25-14 and the two teams each took four corner kicks.
The Saints will head north for a match Saturday (Oct. 24) at the University of North Georgia for a 3:30 p.m. kick-off in Dahlonega.
